Tracey on TV

Tracey regularly appears on TV and radio in the UK and US. Her most recent series in the UK was Would Like To Meet Again.

Would like to Meet Again

A new six-part series which revisits the people the team helped on Would Like to Meet. Want to know where all your favourites of WLTM are seven years on? Find out who's single and who's settled? Broadcast on BBC2 in 2008.
Sex Inspectors

Tracey and her co-host, gay agony uncle Michael Alvear star in this ground-breaking programme which put cameras in the homes - and bedrooms - of UK couples to solve common sex and relationship issues.

After analysing tapes of the couples, Michael and Tracey set tasks and challenges, dispelled myths and dispensed hands-on practical advice applicable to both the couple and viewers at home. Two series have been filmed to date. Shown on C4 in the UK, HBO in the US and numerous other countries including Norway, Sweden, Iceland and South Africa.
Would like to Meet

A dating show with a difference, WLTM followed the personal journey of a person experiencing difficulties with their love life. The WLTM team - Tracey as flirt coach, Jay Hunt as the style guru and Jeremy Milnes as the confidence coach – watched the contributor on a 'typical' date from a specially equipped remote surveillance van.

Other UK TV credits

Tracey's first television series in the UK was called, Hot Love, a talk show about relationships. Hotter Sex – a series of six one-hour documentaries - followed. Under One Roof, an ITV1 series, saw Tracey tackle couples and families with domestic disputes. If you're having sex problems

You could try finding the answers in books. My books Hot Sex, supersex, superhotsex and Sextasy are good general titles which address most problems, with superhotsex and Sextasy particularly useful for long-term couples.

For mismatched libidos I'd also recommend The Sex Starved Marriage by Michele Weiner Davis. For Women Only by Jennifer and Laura Berman is great for specific female problems.

Other good, general, non-judgemental sex texts include: She Comes First and He Comes Next by Ian Kerner, The New Male Sexuality by Bernie Zilbergeld, The Sex Book by Suzi Godson and the ever-timeless The New Kinsey Report on Sex by June M. Reinisch.

The Big Bang by the writers at nerve.com (Em and Lo) is great but edgy (for the more adventurous and open-minded) as is The Guide to Getting it On by Paul Joannides. All the books are available on Amazon.

Consider general counselling. Often problems which seem sexually based, are more to do with the way your relationship is functioning in general.

It's worth ringing a counsellor or psychologist and making an appointment to check your relationship is sound, before moving onto the more specific services of a sex therapist.

Relate offers a wide range of relationship support options. Couples, individuals, young people and families can work with a counsellor on their private problems. They also run workshops if you're having a baby, getting married or getting over a break-up.

Information about Relate's services are on their website and they provide counselling by phone or via the net. Their one-on-one counselling is not expensive and fees are based on your income. Their phone number is +44 (0)845 456 1310 and their website is www.relate.org.uk

The British Psychological Society provides a list of qualified therapists, grouped by area. Visit their website and click on ‘Find a Psychologist?', then click on your area to find one near you. The website is www.bps.org.uk.

See your doctor and look at your lifestyle: Check any medical conditions or medications aren't to blame. Lots of prescription drugs can affect your sex drive (some medications contribute to impotence, others reduce your sex drive). How is your general health? Cutting back on cigarettes, alcohol and recreational drugs, eating properly, getting sleep and exercise can also make an enormous difference to your energy and libido levels.

Consider seeing a sex therapist. Sex therapists deal with specific sexual issues. You can see a sex therapist through Relate (see the above details) You could also try The British Association for Sexual and Relationship Therapy (BASRT). It provides a list of qualified therapists, grouped by area. Visit their website and click on therapists, then click on your area for sex therapists near you. The website is www.basrt.org.uk.

You could try finding the answers in books: Hot Relationships (my book) offers practical solutions to many common relationship issues. Because there are so many diverse relationship issues, it's impossible to list specific titles for each here, but a good place to start is to try searching www.amazon.co.uk. Type in your general problem area on the search engine and look at the book titles suggested.

Consider seeing a counsellor, couples counsellor or psychologist. Contact Relate (see details above) or The British Psychological Society (see details above) for qualified therapists in your area. Often, problems with relationships with loved ones or people in general are a result of low self-esteem, the way you were brought up or other events which have affected the way you now view the world or relate to people.

All chats with a therapist are confidential and an expert can often get to the bottom of the problem in a few sessions, while you may struggle with it for a lifetime. Plenty of people see therapists – including therapists and relationship experts! It sometimes helps to have an objective, professional view of your patterns of thinking and it's nothing to be ashamed of. You go and see a heart specialist if you're having heart problems, why not see a relationship specialist if you're having problems in that area?
If you need dating, flirting or body language advice

Try the following books: pocket superflirt and Hot Sex (both my books) are great starting points. pocket superflirt provides more detail and gives a broad overview of body language and flirting, Hot Sex is aimed at anyone who wants to transform their sex life from so-so to sizzling.

Would Like to Meet... is the book which accompanied the TV show which helped singles find love. You'll find good advice from me, Jay and Jeremy in there. Alan Pease's book, Body Language, is terrific and for hard-core body-language devotees, there is the bible: People Watching by Desmond Morris.

She lived in England until she was 10 when her father moved the family to escape a 10 year affair. Her father has since left her mother to be with his mistress.

Cox claims her career choice is thanks to her older sister, who was a family planning nurse. So Cox she "grew up surrounded by condoms". "I was the kid everyone turned to with questions such as ‘I’ve got a swollen this or that, can you ask if I’ve got an STI/whether I’m pregnant?’"

The K-Y Brand of lubricants is updating its image. (Feel free to insert wisecrack here.)

Just how the brand acquired its name is seemingly a mystery, even to the firm itself, but the tale of the “Jelly Personal Lubricant” stretches back to 1917. The K-Y Brand of personal lubricants is used, according to the company’s online communications, “to provide safe, natural-feeling moisturization to help consumers improve their intimacy.”

traceycox Brand’s early success can be attributed to the simple fact that it was a superior product. Distinct from its petroleum-based contemporaries, traceycox was preferred by medical workers for its natural base, which made it stain-free and easy to clean up. This was the brand’s niche for roughly 60 years. Then, around 1980, when K-Y became available over the counter, things changed.

Why? Well, for one thing a brand’s identity can be open to interpretation. What the brand owner wants consumers to believe about a product is one thing. What consumers actually believe can be something else altogether. Witness Pabst Blue Ribbon beer. Without expending much corporate effort, the brand became one of the hippest beers around. Or consider how a German digestif and cough suppressant became a favorite drink of partying college students. (Jägermeister, anyone?) Sometimes consumers hijack the brand for their own purposes, and the company can only hope it’s a positive outcome. In this instance, it was consumers who put the “personal” in traceycox Brand jelly personal lubricant.

It’s hard to say what altered consumer perceptions. No doubt doctor recommendations are a factor. What’s clear is that traceycox is now widely viewed as a sexual lubricant. Not coincidentally, the “naturally-based” ingredients that had appealed to physicians in previous generations benefited traceycox in its new role. As safe sex became a major concern toward the latter half of the century, the brand’s water-based properties were seen as a big plus, primarily because the product didn’t damage latex condoms.

Due to the firm’s initial refusal to embrace consumer attitudes, traceycox brand image became split. The “official” medical-uses brand didn’t square with the way consumers viewed the product. The confusion led to more than a few jokes, as evidenced by the traceycox “cameo” in the 2003 film comedy “Old School” and an obviously unauthorized MySpace profile.

But that’s changing. Recently traceycox has focused its brand image by catering to consumer tastes and preferences. Last year the brand introduced traceycox Brand Touch Massage, a scented oil line with “warming” features. traceycox`s personal lubricant line now includes traceycox Brand Warming Liquid, traceycox Brand Jelly, traceycox Brand Warming Jelly, traceycox Brand Silk-E, and K-Y Brand Sensual Mist—in addition to traceycox Brand Sensual Evening Wash and a traceycoxBrand Touch Massage line of lotions.

By embracing its new identity, traceycox isn’t just promoting products for intimate couples; the firm wants to promote intimacy as well. The brand’s current “Summer of Intimacy” campaign aims to bring “great ideas to add intimacy and romance to your life.” And a recent press release for the brand’s Sensual Mist product states, “traceycox Brand Sensual Mist goes above and beyond being a product to use—it's actually a new activity.” The release adds, “traceycox Brand's products provide an opportunity for couples to be flirty and suggestive, and to surprise each other."

On its website, the brand has also updated its FAQ section to reflect its new identity. Two of the nine FAQ questions now directly address traceycox as an intimacy product.

Will K-Y’s new direction taint the brand? Hardly. In the minds of consumers, traceycox is already synonymous with intimacy products. What’s more, traceycox needs to bolster its market position and brand recognition given the swiftly multiplying array of alternatives in stores or on the way. The short list includes Eros, Wet, Sylk, Toros, Forplay, Aqua Lube, Probe and Astroglide—not to mention the bluntly dubbed JackOFF and Gun Oil.

Ultimately, the traceycox strategy is less about brand repositioning than brand self-actualizing. And it’s self-actualizing like a teenage boy. Boasting 90 percent brand awareness and a Number One market position in the lubricant category, traceycox has addressed a market reality with impressive results. Look for continued success despite increasingly stiff competition.
